Helen’s Services

It could be that you are experiencing too much stress, or that you are traumatised and tired. You may have become cynical about mankind or even about yourself. It could be that there is just one problem that will not change in spite of all your efforts. Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and the therapeutic relationship can provide a safe, supportive environment where the way forward becomes clearer.

Helen provides therapy for people with diverse emotional and mental health issues. These include but are not restricted to:

  1. Depression, grief and loss

  2. Stress, anxiety, and panic

  3. Relationship challenges

  4. Drug and alcohol issues

  5. Trauma, including abuse and relational trauma

  6. Personality issues and low distress tolerance arising from invalidating environments

  7. Issues of personal development and communication

  8. Self esteem and co-dependency

You are welcomed in an attitude of unconditional regard. This has been associated with effective therapeutic outcomes. Helen provides evidence-based Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and other interventions as, and if, required: for instance psycho-education, trauma work, mindfulness and relaxation.

You will be met by a breadth and depth of understanding. Helen's approach is informed by many streams of thought, for example neuropsychotherapy reminds us of brain plasticity and brings an emphasis on the importance of emotional safety, and the role of neural conflicts in emotional distress. Dialectical Behaviour Therapy informs our approach where invalidating environments have generated trauma and emotional upset. Modern Attachment Theory supports an understanding of the effects of difficult attachment and their amelioration through therapy. Helen has worked in the drug and alcohol field for some years and is attuned to the emotional pain associated with addictions and co-dependency, as well as the adaptations of the wounded inner-child.
